2009 Retrospective >> Part I: Commercial

leave a comment »

Back through looking glass, 2009 was a mammoth year in productivity for me. I started the year as a semi-professional photographer and finished as a professional freelance photographer. I found the brass balls needed to quit my day jobs and pursue a career I really care about, and I’ve found validation through the wonderful relationships I’ve created in the scene and the showcasing publications I work for.

Anyway, I promise to keep these posts short on words and heavy on photographs. Here are some hand-picked highlights from my commercial work this year.

Bags + Purses by v. esparza

Here are some highlights from a product shoot I did for v. esparza. I shot them propped at different angles (see the group shot and individuals below) on a chair that Esparza’s mother found at a garage sale – proof of the old “one man’s trash” adage. Anyway, these are some samples of hand-made bags and purses that are available at Dwelling Spaces (119 S. Detroit Ave). Grab ’em while they’re hot.

I’ve been working on boosting my commercial portfolio lately, and Melinda Borum at Shades of Brown Coffee & Art was nice enough to let me spend an afternoon shooting some of their drinks and treats for their November/December advertising campaign.

Here are some highlights:
